Chancellor

Sri Kosaraju Veerayya Chowdary was born on 10th October 1954 in Krishna District. He is a distinguished figure in Indian public administration and corporate governance. He completed his graduation from Loyola College, Chennai, and further pursued a Post Graduation in Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Chennai. Beginning his career as a Probationary Officer in Andhra Bank, Sri Chowdary later joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in 1978. His remarkable career in public service led him to become the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in 2014. In 2015, he was appointed as the Central Vigilance Commissioner of India, where he played a pivotal role in promoting transparency and accountability in government operations. Post-retirement, Sri Chowdary transitioned to the corporate sector, where he holds directorship positions in several prominent companies, including Reliance Industries Ltd., CCL Products (India) Ltd., Divi’s Laboratories Ltd., Tata Motors Ltd., Eugia Pharma Specialties Ltd., Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd., My Home Industries Private Ltd., and Anant Raj Limited. He is also actively involved with the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation and Genome Foundation.

Sri Chowdary is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Agencies and the Advisory Board of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. He serves on various audit and remuneration committees across multiple companies, contributing his vast experience in financial oversight and corporate governance. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Sri Chowdary is a Non-Executive Independent Trustee of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, a charitable trust dedicated to alleviating hunger and promoting education. He also serves as the Chairman of the Stakeholders Relationship Committee at Reliance Industries Ltd., Sri Kosaraju Veerayya Chowdary’s extensive career reflects his dedication to both public service and corporate leadership, making him a valuable asset in his role as the Hon’ble Chancellor.
