Internal Compliant Committee

The ICC has been constituted as per the mandate of:

  • The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act).
  • University Grants Commission (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015

These legislations necessitate the formation of an Internal Complaints Committee at all workplaces and educational institutions to address and redress complaints related to sexual harassment.

Functions of ICC

  • To prevent any form of sexual harassment at the workplace and within the campus.
  • To create awareness and promote gender sensitivity among all stakeholders.
  • To investigate complaints of sexual harassment in a fair and unbiased manner.
  • To recommend appropriate action in cases of proven misconduct, in line with University rules and the POSH Act.
  • To organise sensitization and training programs, workshops, and seminars on gender equality, women empowerment, and legal rights.
  • To ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all women at SAHE.

Who can approach the ICC
Any aggrieved woman who has experienced sexual harassment in the context of her association with NCU can approach the ICC. This includes:

  • Female students
  • Women employees (teaching and non-teaching staff)
  • Visitors or interns associated with the University
  • Research scholars

In circumstances where the aggrieved woman is unable to file a complaint due to physical or mental incapacity or death, a friend, relative, colleague, co-student may file the complaint on her behalf.


Scope of Sexual Harassment
Acts of sexual harassment may include but are not limited to:

  •  Unwelcome physical contact and advances
  •  A demand or request for sexual favours
  •  Making sexually coloured remarks
  •  Showing pornography
  •  Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature
    Any student / teaching staff / non-teaching staff who wish to file a sexual harassment complaint can contact any member of the ICC committee in university.
