The S&H Department hosts well-equipped learning spaces for first-year B.Tech. students, including two state-of-the-art Freshmen Computer Centres (FMC-I and FMC-II) and a dedicated Workshop Practice Lab. The computer centres are furnished with 140 high-end computer systems, accommodating up to 133 students simultaneously, while the Workshop Practice Lab provides hands-on training in engineering practices, enabling students to gain practical skills alongside computational learning.

In the 1st Semester, students are introduced to the Linear Algebra, Series, and Calculus Lab (MATLAB), where they perform matrix operations, solve systems of equations, compute eigenvalues, explore series expansions, and carry out symbolic and numerical differentiation and integration with visualization. This builds a strong foundation in mathematical problem-solving using MATLAB.

In the 2nd Semester, they advance to the Differential Equations and Numerical Methods Lab (MATLAB). Here, they model and solve differential equations, apply interpolation and approximation techniques, perform numerical differentiation and integration, and implement iterative methods like Newton-Raphson, Gauss-Seidel, and Runge-Kutta. These experiments strengthen their computational and analytical skills for engineering applications.

In addition, students across both semesters are exposed to AI tools and applications to enhance creativity and innovation. They learn to generate project ideas using AI and explore platforms such as MiniGPT, GAMA, MetaAI, Craiyon, MathosAI, and Chatbots, thereby integrating artificial intelligence into their academic journey.

Together, the Freshmen Computer Centres and the Workshop Practice Lab provide a strong foundation in both computational mathematics and practical engineering skills, ensuring students are equipped with theoretical knowledge, hands-on proficiency, and exposure to emerging AI technologies and Chatbots. This exposure encourages creativity, problem-solving, and innovation by integrating artificial intelligence into their academic journey.

Thus, the Freshmen Computer Centres serve as a foundation for computational mathematics and AI-based learning, ensuring that students acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical proficiency to apply in higher-level courses, research, and real-world applications.
