Information Technology department is established a research lab in the name of National Remote Sensing Centre-ISRO Lab to execute the projects sanctioned by National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC),ISRO, Hyderabad. The main objective of this lab is to provide solutions and services to NRSC, Hyderabad. To meet the objective, solutions are provided by delineating tree and its parameters estimation like tree height and crown diameter for forestry applications and Mobile Based Panchayat level asset mapping of Krishna district to update in the NRSC-Bhuvan Server. An amount of Rs. 26,14,000/- is sanctioned by NRSC . The Department was already been sanctioned a R&D project on Video Analytics by ADRIN – ISRO worth of Rs.18,23,000/-.

The main objectives of this lab are as follows:

  1. To develop and evaluate algorithms for forestry applications using multispectral remote sensingimages
  2. To motivate faculty to pursue their research in Remote Sensing and Geographic information system
  3. To provide internships to students in the areas of Remote Sensing and GIS
  4. To enhance the knowledge of students and staff by organizing various events via Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Edusatoutreach Programs
  5. To map various assets of village panchayats into BhuvanPanchayatProtal of NRSC, Hyderabad
  6. To interact with the eminent personalities from Academia, industry, NRSC, ISRO, IIRS, APSAC etc.,
